About elizabethmarshallgalleryblog

About the Artist Elizabeth Marshall defines her art as “who I AM, not what I do…” Art is Elizabeth’s peace, her passion and her Zen; her studio: her sanctuary. And it is with innate guidance that she is driven to create. The Elizabeth Marshall Gallery is a tribute to her rebirth as an artist. Elizabeth’s mission statement is simple: “Empty Spaces Awakened –Captivating the Mind, Nourishing the Soul”. Beginning with what can best be described as Divine Inspiration, her paintings unfold slowly. A flower, a place, a song, inspiration comes unexpectedly and a new dream is born -each painting, her child, with each stroke deliberately placed- possibly to be erased and replaced until reaching perfect harmony. Because of this attention to detail, one will not find extensive numbers of paintings in her collection, but only the select few that have been born of her innate sense of creation. Every painting’s story is a piece of the puzzle that makes up Elizabeth’s life. Having spent the greater portion of her career as a watercolor artist, her transformation to the bold, bright colors of oil pastel is significant with regard to her approach to life, as a whole. Positive energy and boldness of colors that nourish the soul are hallmarks of her paintings and are indicative of her bold passion for life. Elizabeth Marshall’s work has been described as “magical and dream-like”, “beautiful, colorful, fun, and fanciful”. As she began to win awards for her watercolor paintings: Best in Show at the Washington State Fair, and Best in Show at the Carnegie Center for the Arts, both in Walla Walla, she was grasped by the excitement of being recognized. It was at this same time that she sold her first piece of artwork- a simple black and white pen and ink drawing of two Chinese women working in a r
